ESPN commentators may be more careful in discussing race moving forward.

After being suspended by ESPN for 30 days following comments on First Take about Robert Griffin III, commentator Rob Parker has been let go from the network.

Parker had controversial comments about the Redskins’ quarterback during a Dec. 13 episode of First Take. He questioned Griffin’s “blackness” over his white fiancee and a rumor — that Parker admitted was unfounded — that the rookie was a Republican. Parker asked whether Griffin was “a real brother, or a cornball brother.”

ESPN released a statement about Parker, admitting they were letting him go over the RGIII comments.

“Rob Parker’s contract expired at year’s end,” said an ESPN spokesperson. “Evaluating our needs and his work, including his recent RG III comments, we decided not to renew his deal.”
