Tim Tebow Spotted in Arizona, Sparking Speculation About Whether Cardinals Will Pursue Quarterback

There’s bad quarterback play, and then there’s the quarterback play of the Arizona Cardinals, who are in desperate need of a savior going forward.

Could that savior be Tim Tebow?

While it’s unclear whether the Cardinals will have any interest in pursuing a trade for the Jets’ backup quarterback/clipboard holder, speculation of such a move has unsurprisingly picked up a bit after TMZ reportedly spotted Tebow in Arizona on Monday.

The polarizing signal caller reportedly trained for two and a half hours — running sprints and drills — at an Arizona community college. Clearly, Tebow’s mind is still very much on football in the wake of a tumultuous season in New York, where he barely saw the field despite the Jets’ constant QB struggles.

The big question going into the offseason, however, is whether another team values Tebow’s skill set more so than the Jets. Many assumed Jacksonville might be interested — as Tebow’s arrival would be a homecoming that would at least sell some tickets for the Jaguars — but new general manager David Caldwell has already stated that he can’t see a scenario in which Tebow lands with the Jags. That means we must shift our attention elsewhere, and the city where Tebow is reportedly training is as quarterback-starved as they come.

The Cardinals — who rolled out a less-than-stellar QB quartet of Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer this season — ranked 28th in the NFL in passing yards (3,005), 28th in completion percentage (55.4), 31st in passing touchdowns (11), 32nd in sacks allowed (58), 32nd in yards per attempt (5.6), 32nd in passer rating (63.1) and 32nd in interceptions (21). In other words, they sucked.

But did the Cardinals suck to the point where Tebow would be considered a major upgrade? Well, you saw the scrubs they were rolling out there on a weekly basis, so you be the judge.
