Some Bruins fans may have been wishing that the lockout would be just the rest that Tim Thomas needed, and that the veteran goaltender would be back for the B’s when the truncated seasons begins Jan. 19.

That’s not the case, but Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli did have some good news when he chatted with the media Sunday morning as the B’s prepare to finally play hockey. NESN’s Naoko Funayama reports that Chiarelli expects Thomas to be back and ready to play next year. Whether that’s with the Bruins remains a question, though.
