FOXBORO, Mass. — The AFC’s two best teams will be representing the conference at Gillette Stadium next Sunday — at least that’s what Tom Brady believes.
The Patriots quarterback was in good spirits after a 41-28 win over the Texans on Sunday night, and while he closed the book on Houston, he began looking ahead to New England’s next opponent: Baltimore.
The Ravens are headed to Foxboro for a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game, after Ray Lewis and Co. defeated Peyton Manning‘s Broncos in a double-overtime thriller on Saturday. The Broncos were the No. 1 seed in the AFC coming into the playoffs, but Brady expressed his belief that the two best teams are the ones left standing.
“I think the two best teams are in the finals,” Brady said. “Baltimore certainly deserves to be here and so do we, so it’s very fitting.”
Brady is not taking anything away from Manning, but considering the Ravens not only pulled out the win in Denver, but also managed to beat the Patriots earlier this season — something the Broncos were unable to accomplish — his opinion seems justified.
Next weekend’s rematch will be a clash for the ages — not that a Broncos-Patriots showdown wouldn’t be — and the AFC’s two best teams, right now at least, will be represented.
