If the Celtics had come out flat and never really competed against the Bobcats on Monday night, nobody really could have blamed them. They were less than 24 hours removed from playing three overtimes in a win over Denver, and a late-night road trip left them very little time to recuperate before suiting up in Charlotte.

The Celtics competed right to end, though, and had a few chances to beat the Bobcats in the final minutes. Avery Bradley boasted one of the night’s biggest hustle plays when he chased down Kemba Walker to block the Bobcats guard’s layup attempt in the fourth quarter.

After throwing a bad pass that Walker deflected, Bradley tried to pick up the ball by dribbling, rather than grabbing it. Walker tipped the ball ahead and raced up the court for what looked like an easy layup — until Bradley made up for his error by swooping in and knocking the shot away. Brandon Bass eventually ended up with the ball back on Boston’s end and drew a shooting foul.
