Curtis Granderson Expected to Miss 10 Weeks After Breaking Forearm in Spring Training Game

Curtis GrandersonSpring training is supposed to be a relaxing time for veterans, but that’s not how it turned out for Curtis Granderson.

The New York Yankees outfielder suffered a fractured right forearm on Sunday after being hit by a pitch in his first spring training at-bat of the season. Granderson will be out of action until at least the first week of May, the Yankees announced.

Granderson was hit by a 2-2 pitch from Toronto pitcher J.A. Happ and left the game immediately. The 31-year-old was set to play left field as the Yankees experiment with moving Brett Gardner to center.

The Yankees will miss having Granderson in the lineup, as the lefty has led the team in home runs each of the past two seasons.
