The Celtics are many years removed from the days of bake sales and birthday celebrations, but that doesn’t mean they can’t mark milestones with confectionery treats.

Doc Rivers decided to bust out the baked goodies this week as he marked his 400th career regular-season win. He had Georgetown Cupcakes send a box of deluxe cupcakes with Celtics-themed decorating to each member of the team, with the boxes showing up in each player’s locker before Thursday night’s game against the Lakers.

The pink boxes, which came with a thank you written on a green notecard, were enough of a boost that the C’s went out and trampled the Lakers 116-95. Boston has now won six in a row – and every game since point guard Rajon Rondo went down with a season-ending ACL injury.

While the surplus of sugar may not have been the cause of the latest win, Rivers’ gesture — to thank each player for being part of his 400th win — did leave an impression.

“It’s really cool that somebody would do that,” guard Avery Bradley said, according to Comcast Sports Net.
