Doug Flutie Learns Wiles of Knuckleball With Tim Wakefield in First Episode of ‘The Knuckler’ (Video)

For those waiting to see Doug Flutie get his arm back in the game, the time has come — although they’ll have to be satisfied with watching the quarterback sling a knuckleball.

Flutie and four other former athletes are working with former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield to see who can master Wakefield’s signature pitch, the knuckleball. The player who figures it out the best and wins the competition will be invited to the Diamondbacks’ spring training, with a chance to pitch in a game.

The first episode of the series following the competition, The Next Knuckler, aired Wednesday night on the MLB Network. For those who missed it, though, here’s a clip where Flutie and Wakefield try to get the local legend’s arm working, baseball-style. Check it out below.
