Economist Andrew Zimbalist has been studying sports for a long time, writing his first book about the business of baseball all the way back in 1992.

In a recent interview, NESN’s Adam Pellerin sat down with Zimbalist — a professor of economics at Smith College — to talk about the Red Sox’ ownership, and Zimbalist said the group is among the best in professional sports. Zimbalist recently wrote a column for The Boston Globe defending the organization from claims made by former manager Terry Francona.
