For years, Tampa Bay has had trouble attracting fans to Tropicana Field. The franchise tried changing the team name (from Devil Rays to Rays) and fielding a winning team (playoffs in three of the last five years, including an American League pennant). With those methods still not boosting attendance all that much, though, it’s time for bobbleheads.

While the Rays have their usual bevy of promotions going on this year, the winners have to be a pair of bobbleheads honoring manager Joe Maddon and All-Star pitcher David Price.

Maddon’s figurine is the classic garden gnome, and the first 10,000 fans coming April 24 can get their hands on one.

The other bobblehead pays homage to Price’s bulldog, Astro (not conveniently named, considering Houston is switching leagues this year). Fans 14 years old and younger will get the bobblehead while supplies last on April 21.

The Rays are once again rebuilding while looking to stay in contention with sharp pitching, but with bobbleheads like these, fans should have no excuses not to head down to the Trop.
