New Red Sox manager John Farrell will field a very different team this season than the Boston squad that stumbled through a disappointing campaign in 2012. While he wants his players to learn from last year’s struggles, the new Sox boss stresses the importance of players earning trust in one another and fans regaining trust in the franchise.

“Certainly we can’t wipe away what’s taken place,” Farrell said Tuesday. “It’s important that we acknowledge it but, as I’ve talked to guys to guys throughout the offseason, what we do going forward is where the focus has to be.”
