The Red Sox couldn’t have asked for much more from Jon Lester on Sunday.
The left-hander retired all six batters he faced in his first start of spring training — a 5-3 Boston win over St. Louis. Lester struggled through the most difficult campaign of his career last season, going 9-14 with a career-worst 4.82 ERA, and came into camp looking to put the tumultuous events of last year behind him.
WEEI’s Rob Bradford joined NESN’s Don Orsillo to break down Lester’s first outing, as well speculate on when new first baseman Mike Napoli will make his Red Sox debut. Check it out in the video above.
