Doc Rivers, Leandro BarbosaAt this rate, the Celtics might just have to call the season sometime around early March when they run out of players.

Shortly after the Celtics’ seven-game winning streak came to an end in Charlotte, Kevin Garnett informed reporters that Celtics players were told in the locker room that Leandro Barbosa is done for the season.

The severity of Barbosa’s injury was not immediately known. He came up lame on a non-contact play late in the third quarter, and crumpled to the floor favoring his leg. The team initially termed Barbosa’s injury as a left knee injury with no further details.

If Barbosa is finished, this leaves the Celtics with only three healthy guards. Finding reinforcements is not as easy as recalling rookie Kris Joseph from the D-League, either. The Celtics’ 2012 second-round draft pick was removed from their NBA roster earlier this season and was traded over the weekend by the Maine Red Claws to the Springfield Armor.
