Marc PelosiLiverpool has confirmed Marc Pelosi‘s surgery on his broken leg was successful.

The midfielder picked up the injury in a heavy challenge during the U-21s’ 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

“Marc sustained a nasty fracture to the main bone in his leg — his tibia — and he had surgery on Monday evening to put that back into a good position,” academy doctor Nigel Jones told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Everything went well with the surgery and we’ll work hard to make sure he gets back as soon as possible.”

Jones also offered an update on the U-21s’ other injury casualties Brad Smith, Samed Yesil and Jakub Sokolik.

“We didn’t carry any significant long-term injuries into the start of the season for the U-21 and NextGen squad,” he added. “But in the last month, not only have we had Marc’s injury, we’ve had Brad Smith with his cruciate ligament injury. He’s had surgery to repair that. We’ve also had Samed Yesil with a cruciate ligament injury that he’s also now had surgery on. Both of those boys are doing really well.

“We’ve got Jakub Sokolik out with a long-term back problem, so it’s not been a great time since Christmas in terms of long-term injuries, but everyone will work hard to make sure those boys are back as soon as they possibly can be.”
