Michael Crabtree Insists He Was Held by Jimmy Smith, Says It Was a ‘Missed Call’

Jared Sullinger, Reggie Evans, Josh ChildressMichael Crabtree had a chance to be a hero on Sunday night in the Super Bowl, but he couldn’t come up with what would have been the game-winning catch.

The 49ers receiver got tangled up with Baltimore cornerback Jimmy Smith on San Francisco’s final offensive play, as Colin Kaepernick‘s pass on fourth down fell harmlessly to the ground.

A couple of plays later, the Ravens were Super Bowl champions.

Many, including a screaming Jim Harbaugh, thought Smith held Crabtree in the end zone. Crabtree is one of those people.

“It was a missed call,” Crabtree told Yahoo! Sports. “[The referee] missed two or three in the game but that was it right there, the Super Bowl was right there.

“I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t want to think about it. I don’t know, man. What do you think? I thought it was holding.”

There’s no question in my mind that there was a pass interference and then a hold,” Harbaugh told reporters after the game.
