Report: Former Tennessee Basketball Coach Arrested for Breaking Into Office With Saw, Stealing Over $4,000

University of TennesseeFile this one under another “strange but true” crime story from the world of sports.

According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, former Tennessee men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach Troy Wills was arrested and charged on burglary and vandalism charges this week. The strange part? Police say that Wills used a saw to break into a locked office at the Vols’ arena on Saturday morning.

He then “ransacked” the office and is accused of stealing over $4,000.

Wills was reportedly seen on video walking through a hallway “with what appears to be a saw in his hand” and later tried to hide the saw under his coat.

The coach was fired by the university in 2012 after working eight seasons with the Vols. It’s unclear at this time what the motivation for the alleged crime was.
