The Knicks love their 3-point shooting — and, if this trade goes through, they could be getting a lot more of it.
New York is in talks for a trade that would bring J.J. Redick, one of the game’s best shooters, to the Knicks in exchange for Iman Shumpert, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld. Kennedy reports that a straight-up trade is unlikely, with other players and possibly other teams needing to be involved.
Redick is in his seventh year in the league, all with the Magic. He has finally blossomed into the deep-range scoring threat he was envisioned to be when drafted out of Duke, where he set school records for scoring and the national record for 3-point shots made. He is averaging a career-high 15.3 points a game this year on 40.3 percent 3-point shooting and a career-high 45.9 percent field goal shooting.
Shumpert, in his second year with the Knicks, is averaging 5.3 points and 3.4 rebounds a game this season.
