Robert Griffin III Won’t Compromise NFL Career With Speedy Return, Even if New Commercial Says Otherwise

Robert Griffin IIIRobert Griffin III is on the comeback trail, and he’s willing to do anything to be back on the field for the Redskins in Week 1. Well, almost anything.

Griffin blew up on the football field last season, which Adidas highlights in their newest TV ad, but so did his knee. So, while the Redskins rookie sensation does intend to be back on the field for the season opener in Week 1, he won’t risk his career over it.

Griffin’s sentiment is entirely understandable and within reason. He just turned 23 years old and has a long, prosperous career ahead of him, so you can’t blame him for playing it safe. Not everyone is capable of a miraculous return like Adrian Peterson, and the Redskins’ opener will come right around that 6-8 month timeline initially projected for Griffin’s recovery.

The only real obscure element to this story is the timing of the video ad’s release earlier in the day, which runs under the slogan “All in for Week 1.” So, while RG3 still could be back for Week 1, it seems that Adidas’ ad campaign may not be entirely truth telling.
