Sue Paterno, the widow of Joe Paterno, spoke with Katie Couric on Monday to deny the allegations made against her late husband in the Freeh report.

The report, conducted by former FBI director, Louis Freeh, claims that the former Penn State football coach was involved in the university’s cover up of the allegations against former Penn State assistant, Jerry Sandusky. In the interview, aired on Couric’s talk show, Katie, Sue Paterno said she got “physically ill” reading the charges against Sandusky. She went on to use words like “horror” and “disbelief” when the scandal first broke in the fall of 2011.

Couric’s interview went beyond the studio, as she visited State College, Pa., and spent time with Paterno and her children.

“Do you think we’d let our kids play with someone who might be a pedophile?” Paterno, the mother of five asked Couric. “Obviously we were all totally unaware.”

The Paterno family has commissioned their own report, which criticizes the July 2012 Freeh report. Check out Couric’s exclusive interview with Paterno below.
