Ganaway SandwichesWhen athletes finish their season, they usually take a well-deserved vacation or just go home to be with family. But for Terrance Ganaway, work goes beyond the football field.

Ganaway, the fourth-ranked running back on the St. Louis Rams’ depth chart, has decided to toss around some bread and meat rather than the pigskin this offseason as he’s started working at Jimmy John’s in Waco, Texas, according to St. Louis Today.

“I’m on the line that makes the sandwiches,” Ganaway said. “I bake bread. Take the cashier spot. I had to sweep the other day. Clean the tables. I mean, all types of stuff. Slice the meat. Wrap the meat.”

The running back who is used to working fast, must apply his speed and versatility in the sandwich line because being fast is a big part of Jimmy John’s store policy.

“I’m in the heat of the battle,” Ganaway said. “Trying to make sandwiches fast is Jimmy John’s policy, so it’s kind of stressful.”

His persistence to stay in shape and to stay financially stable made him choose the rout of taking his talents to Jimmy John’s sandwich shop. But by no means does this mean his NFL career is over.

“My No. 1 job is being an NFL player,” Ganaway said. “So don’t get it confused as to me working at Jimmy John’s has me lazy. … I know what I have to do.”

Ganaway was claimed off waivers by the Rams at the end of 2012 preseason.
