Tim TebowTim Tebow still plans to preach his message of faith to the masses, just not at the risk of his reputation.

After agreeing to a speaking engagement at the First Baptist Church of Dallas last week, Tebow changed his tune on Thursday. Tebow was scheduled to deliver two sermons to the church audienceĀ of more than 11,000, but the controversial views and beliefs of the Rev. Robert Jeffress have apparently led the New York Jets quarterback to take a knee instead.

Tebow used Twitter as his medium to distribute the message on Thursday morning, citing “new information” as the reason behind his change of heart.

Jeffress has criticized the gay community and members of other religions in the past, drawing national attention. That sort of press likely isn’t something Tebow is interested in involving himself with, which explains his recusal.
