Will Middlebrooks Leaves Game Against Orioles After Injuring Hand or Wrist on Awkward Swing

Will Middlebrooks‘ first year in the majors ended prematurely because of a wrist injury. Unfortunately, 2013 isn’t starting off much better for the promising third baseman.

Middlebrooks exited Wednesday’s spring training game against the Orioles with an injury. It’s unclear at this point what type of injury Middlebrooks suffered or how serious the injury is, but the 24-year-old appeared to grab his hand after an awkward swing on an inside fastball against Baltimore starter Chris Tillman.

It looked as if Middlebrooks might have been nursing the same wrist he injured last year upon leaving the field on Wednesday. Middlebrooks’ hand slipped off the bat while checking his swing.
