Dave Poulin might have impressed the Boston Garden crowd as a Bruin back in the early 1990s, but it was with the Philadelphia Flyers that the forward really made his mark on the game.
After setting a Flyers rookie record in 1984 for points in a season (since broken), the 5-foot-11 center was named the team’s captain for the 1984-85 campaign. That was a title he held until 1989, when he was stripped of his captaincy and then traded to the Bruins.
After battling through injuries for many years, Poulin returned to form in 1992, when he posted a plus-29 for the B’s in 84 games and earned the King Clancy Memorial Trophy at season’s end.
