It appears James Harrison has been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The outside linebacker tweeted “It’s been a great run but all good things must come to a end. Thank you Steelers Nation I will miss you all!” on Saturday morning. Harrison and the Steelers were having trouble agreeing to a pay cut, according to USA Today.
Harrison was set to make $6.57 million in 2013. He had six sacks and 49 tackles in 2012. His best season came in 2008 when he had 16 sacks, 67 tackles and one interception.
Harrison was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2002 by the Steelers. He has been known throughout his career for his hard hits and heavy fines.
Adam Schefter of ESPN.com confirmed the news that Harrison is out in Pittsburgh. The Steelers cleared $5.1 million in cap space by making the move, according to multiple reports.
