LeBron James will tackle a fan if he hits a $50,000 half-court shot, and he will follow a fan on Twitter if that fan runs onto the court midgame.
But James will not approve of a fan touching his head — and not after the Heat’s 27-game win streak gets snapped.
James may have been grumpy that Miami lost 101-97 in Chicago on Wednesday night, breaking the Heat’s pursuit of the league win streak record, or he may just be extra sensitive about his hairline, which has been famously receding. Whatever it is, James didn’t look pleased when a fan reached out and tried to snatch his headband as he and his teammates went into the tunnel after Wednesday’s game.
Then again, few people would have been OK with someone invading their space. While sports stars often toss game-used memorabilia into the stands, it’s another thing to start stripping players as they walk by.
