The combination of Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis continues to flourish as everything else falls apart around the duo, and while the Bolts could get something pretty good in return for St. Louis, the club says they’re not going to move him before the April 3 deadline.
“Marty St. Louis is not going to be traded,” Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman told ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun. “He remains one of the best players in the league and an extremely important player to our team, both on and off the ice. We are a team in transition, we just made a coaching change, Marty is one of the leaders of the team, he is not going anywhere.”
The 37-year-old St. Louis is signed through the 2014-15 season and has a cap hit of $5.625 million for the duration of that contract. He has eight goals and 32 assists in 33 games this season for the struggling Lightning.
