Paul PiercePaul Pierce traded in his sneakers on Thursday night for a nice pair of bowling shoes, and a good cause.

The Celtics captain hosted the fourth annual “The Truth Strikes Again” bowling tournament for his charity, The Truth Fund, at Kings Dedham. The foundation was created by Pierce to help empower kids to lead healthier lives in an effort to prevent obesity. The program promotes physical fitness, healthy eating and encourages kids to make a commitment of 60 minutes of physical activity a day.

The night included a VIP reception and a live auction with current as well as former New England athletes on hand to raise money for Pierce’s Truth on Health campaign and FitClub34.

FitClub34 provides children with the information, resources and tools that are necessary to becoming more active and physically fit. The program encourages children in New England and all across the country to make a one-year pledge to eat healthier and to get in their 60 minutes of daily physical activity. The club provides monthly challenges, healthy recipes and weekly workout videos starring Pierce for kids who participate.

Pierce’s teammates — past and present — showed their support as Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Jordan Crawford, Jeff Green, Courtney Lee, Jason Terry and many more attended the bowling tournament.
