It didn’t take long for Brennan Boesch to find a new home.
Two days after being released by the Tigers, Boesch has signed a major league deal with the Yankees, according to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman.
The Yankees are in desperate need of some reinforcements, and Boesch will give them a left-handed hitting outfielder with a reputation of being a streaky hitter. Given the thin market, though, Boesch seems like a logical choice for the Bronx Bombers, especially since the 27-year-old has enjoyed at least some major league success in the past.
Boesch’s deal is reportedly worth $1.5 million plus incentives. According to Heyman, Boesch could earn $600,000 in incentives in intervals based on the number of at-bats (100 to 350 at-bats) he receives.
The Red Sox, Mets and Astros were among the other teams to consider Boesch. It’s likely he’ll be given plenty of opportunities with the Yankees, though, as Curtis Granderson is currently sidelined with a broken forearm.
Boesch hit .240 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs in 132 games last season.
