Rex Ryan says he regrets the time he guaranteed that the Jets would win the Super Bowl. Just one question: Which time was that, Rex?

Ryan has predicted that his New York Jets would make it to the Super Bowl about as many years as he’s coached the team, with the most recent guarantee coming in 2011. The Jets, meanwhile, have only regressed since Ryan’s first two seasons, when he led them to back-to-back AFC Championship games.

The Jets were 9-7 and 11-5 in Ryan’s first two seasons and fought for the AFC crown despite finishing second in the AFC East both years. In 2011, though, New York went just 8-8 and missed the playoffs. The wheels came off completely last year, with the Jets faltering to 6-10 but looking much worse.

Now, Ryan admits that he’d like to have some of that bravado back. Check out what he had to say in the tweet below from Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.
