Ryan Lavarnway, Mauro Gomez Among Designated Hitter Possibles As Opening Day Nears (Video)

With it becoming more and more likely that David Ortiz will not be healthy in time for Opening Day on April 1, the Red Sox must now explore other options in the designated hitter slot.

Rob Bradford joined NESN Daily to break down those DH possibilities, and the options are numerous. The team could employ any combination of Ryan Lavarnway, Mauro Gomez, Mike Carp, Lyle Overbay and Daniel Nava or, in perhaps the most intriguing scenario, keep promising rookie Jackie Bradley Jr. on the major league club as a corner outfielder and shift Jonny Gomes to DH.

For Bradford’s full breakdown, check out the video above.
