Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez Among Eight Liverpool Stars Involved in World Cup Qualifying Action

Glen Johnson, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Glen JohnsonEight Liverpool stars will attempt to help their countries on the road to FIFA World Cup qualification this week, while a further five young players have been selected to represent England U-21s.

Reds defender Daniel Agger will captain Denmark for its World Cup qualifying double-header. The Danes travel to the Czech Republic on Friday before hosting Bulgaria four days later in Group B.

Fellow center-half and international skipper, Martin Skrtel, has been selected for Slovakia’s qualifier at home to Lithuania and subsequent friendly with Sweden.

With regular Spain No. 1 Iker Casillas injured, Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina could add to his collection of caps when the world and European champions continue their 2014 campaign with games at home to Finland and in France.

England’s attempt to reach the next World Cup sees the Three Lions travel to San Marino and Montenegro during the next week. Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Daniel Sturridge have been selected by Roy Hodgson.

Four Reds have also been named among the U-21s squad – Jordan Henderson, Jonjo Shelvey, Raheem Sterling and Andre Wisdom. Jack Robinson, currently on loan at Wolves, was chosen by Stuart Pearce too.

Uruguayan duo Sebastian Coates and Luis Suarez will be in World Cup qualifying action as the 2010 semifinalists clash with Paraguay and Chile.
