Vince Young continues to take classes on the Austin campus at the University of Texas, and he’s going to give the NFL one more shot before he officially graduates.
Young will finish up his degree later on in the semester, but the former Texas quarterback is not giving up on his dreams just yet. Young will work out for NFL talent evaluators at UT’s pro day on March 26, according to former coach Mack Brown.
The former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last played for the Buffalo Bills in 2012, but his campaign was cut short after completing just 48.1 percent of his passes for 276 yards with a pair of interceptions in three preseason games. Young spent the rest of the 2012 season on the free agent market.
Young is still, well, young (he turns 30 in May), but time is ticking away. Although he’s struggled with turnovers and decision making, the former Texas QB continues to put in the effort with the goal of becoming a starter, once again, in the NFL.
Young does have company in his comeback quest, though. It was announced earlier this year that another former top pick would be making a comeback of his own, a bigger one. JaMarcus Russell will be working out for scouts on April 10, and Larry Fitzgerald is expected to help out the former No. 1 pick to give scouts a better look at how Russell can throw to top NFL talent.
Both quarterbacks showed great promise coming off award-winning seasons in 2005 and 2006 respectively, but still have yet to pan out amongst the pros in the NFL. It is still uncertain whether either quarterback will get another chance from the NFL.
