There’s a bug going around the Red Sox’ clubhouse.

Will Middlebrooks has been sent home and will not be in the Red Sox’ lineup on Thursday against the Twins because of “intestinal turmoil,” according to manager John Farrell.

Middlebrooks is the third Boston player this week to battle such an illness. Jacoby Ellsbury and Mark Hamilton have also been sick, although both players are expected to play on Thursday. Ellsbury is in Boston’s starting lineup, while Hamilton is expected to see some playing time off the bench.
