Zdeno CharaPlayoff beards are annual traditions in hockey, and that will be no different this spring. This year, however, Bruins fans have a little added motivation to grow out their beards during what they hope will be a lengthy playoff run.

The Bruins announced Thursday that they’ll once again be holding their Beard-A-Thon fundraiser. B’s fans will be called upon to grow out their playoff face moss, as well, by requesting financial pledges in their quest to keep the beard going throughout the playoffs. All proceeds will benefit The One Fund Boston to financially support those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.

Beard-A-Thon profiles can be created at www.beardathon.com/bruins, and the beard-growers can pledge in support of themselves in addition to receiving pledges in support of their beard.

The Bruins Foundation has raised $200,000 since 2009 via the Beard-A-Thon.
