Bruins fans have had their fears confirmed: Brad Marchand has a concussion.

The B’s forward suffered the injury Wednesday night in New Jersey, when he was hit in the head by Anton Volchenkov‘s elbow. The New Jersey defenseman received a four-game suspension for the hit.

“Brad has been diagnosed with a mild concussion,” Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said in a statement. “We will provide an update on his status when appropriate.”

Marchand’s 16-17-33 totals place him atop the Bruins’ roster in both points and goals scored.
