The city of Boston exhaled a sigh of relief Friday with the news of an arrest in the Boston Marathon case, and that emotion reverberated around the nation as well. Several ongoing major league games reacted to the news of the arrest, with New York and Texas leading the way.

Fans at Citi Field broke out into spontaneous cheers of “USA! USA!” during the Mets’ game after news of the arrest was shown at the ballpark.

So too did St. Louis Blues fans, cheering with patriotism after being told of the arrest.

Rangers Ballpark, similarly, played “Sweet Caroline” when the news broke, in a nod to Fenway Park’s unofficial anthem.
