Interest in the MLS as a league is certainly heating up, but things got a little too literal Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
The start of the Columbus Crew -D.C. United game was delayed after a fire broke out inside the Crew’s scoreboard. It started as the Crew and D.C. United were going through warm-ups, and the two teams were sent back into their locker rooms, according to the Washington Post’s Steven Goff.
The cause of the fire was likely a speaker malfunction, according to a Crew official. The blaze was eventually contained, and the two teams resumed their warm-ups.
