David Ortiz got a scheduled day off Tuesday night against Oakland, but the Red Sox designated hitter is right back in the lineup on Wednesday afternoon in the conclusion of a three-game series.

Ortiz is back in the cleanup hole for the rubber game of the three-game set when the Red Sox get set to take on Brett Anderson and the Athletics. Ortiz has had some success against the Oakland southpaw. The Boston designated hitter is 4-for-13 in his career with a double against Anderson.

Daniel Nava will also get the day off with the left-handed Anderson going for the A’s. Jonny Gomes will be in the lineup, hitting sixth and playing left field.

Anderson has handled the Red Sox pretty well in his career. The 25-year-old lefty is 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA in eight career starts against the Red Sox. The Oakland starter is 2-1 with a 4.09 ERA in four career starts at Fenway Park. He went six innings and gave up just one run in a win over the Sox last season on Sept. 2.

Jon Lester will get the ball for the Red Sox.
