The Rutgers athletic department looks like a circus right now, with clowns and everything.

Patriots defensive back and Rutgers alum Devin McCourty took out his frustration about the state of his alma mater’s athletic program on Twitter on Friday, even going as far as to call school president Robert Barchi a “clown.”

McCourty’s criticism comes after Barchi and the administration forced athletic director Tim Pernetti to resign. Pernetti resigned just days after flip-flopping on the controversial situation with head basketball coach Mike Rice, who was shown physically abusing players.

As a proud Rutgers alum who can often be seen sporting Scarlet Knight apparel inside Gillette Stadium, McCourty has a right to be angry about the state of his school’s athletic program, especially after listening to Barchi’s brutal news conference on Friday afternoon.
