Jackie Bradley Jr. may be a big star one day, but right now, he’s still on a rookie salary. So, Applebee’s two-for-$20 deal sounds just right.
Bradley had an RBI, two runs scored and three walks in Monday’s 8-2 win over the Yankees, and he did what any Sox player should do if he has his family in town for Opening Day in New York: He took everyone out to dinner in Times Square. Of all the restaurants to choose from, though, Applebee’s won the day.
“We all went out to Times Square and just hung out because my family has never been to Times Square,” he said on Dennis & Callahan on WEEI on Tuesday morning. “I wanted to show them what the big city, bright lights had to offer. So we all went to Applebee’s. … I was able to sneak right on in there. I’m not a well-known face.”
Bradley said he wasn’t very nervous Monday, even as he faced Yankees pitching five times and had to make a tricky play on a deep Robinson Cano fly ball.
“I’m a pretty relaxed guy,” he said. “I like to chill, take it on. If I get down 0-2, what’s the worst that can happen?”
