It figures to be a tough season for the New York Mets, and it appears that their public relations campaigns aren’t faring any better.

By all accounts, longtime Mets director of media relations Jay Horowitz is a colorful guy and well-liked in the organization. However, in the days of virality and up-to-the-second social media, perhaps it’s problematic to have a guy who’s old enough to remember switchboard operators running the team’s online PR campaign.

So, note to the Mets: The idea of videos like “The Harlem Shake” is to take advantage of these trends while they’re still at the height of their popularity.
