The 7:10 p.m. game between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays has been postponed due to the weather, the team announced Friday afternoon.

The area was expecting rain throughout the evening, with snow and sleet falling at points in some parts of the state Friday afternoon. Temperatures were expected to drop into the 30s, with 20-mph winds.

The game “will be rescheduled as soon as possible after consultation with officials at Major League Baseball,” according to the team’s news release.
