Alex Rodriguez has proclaimed his innocence in regards to a connection to the controversial Biogenesis anti-aging clinic that Major League Baseball is investigating.
However, that supposed innocence does not appear to be enough of a reason for Rodriguez to let MLB see documents linking him to the case.
According to the New York Times, a representative for A-Rod attempted to buy documents away from the clinic, ostensibly so the league wouldn’t see them. That news prompted Major League Baseball to in turn purchase documents themselves, as a proactive move against any players with similar plans.
While the initial report of the league’s intent to buy information didn’t name any players, Rodriguez is among the more prominent names linked to the Biogensis clinic. Others include Ryan Braun, Gio Gonzalez and Melky Cabrera.
A spokesman for Rodriguez flatly denied the allegations when reached by the Times.
