Stephen DrewStephen Drew is nearing his return, although it doesn’t appear he’ll be in Boston for Monday’s home opener.

According to The Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham, Drew will continue his rehab stint in Portland on Sunday and Monday, and the shortstop is expected to join the Red Sox in Boston on Wednesday.

Drew is in the midst of returning from a concussion he suffered while getting hit in the head by a pitch early in spring training. Drew was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list to start the season, and he’s been playing with the Double-A club ever since returning to game action.

Drew is 1-for-6 in two games with the Sea Dogs. He was expected to play a full, nine-inning game on Saturday, but the contest was cancelled due to cold weather.
