Saturday Night Live Mocks Mike Rice’s ‘Outside the Lines’ Player Abuse With Toaster-Throwing Women’s Coach (Video)

If anyone could find the humor in a college basketball coach pushing players, throwing basketballs at their heads and throwing around offensive slurs, it’s Saturday Night Live.

SNL mocked the Mike Rice player-abuse video with their own terrible coach, Sheila Kelly of Division III’s Middle Delaware State, played by Melissa McCarthy. Kelly kicks players, shoots t-shirt guns at them, throws bricks and forces them to serve her dinner in the middle of the court.

Kelly even throws a toaster at a player at one point because “when someone blows by you, you’re toast. When you get toast and you are toast, you get hit with a toaster.” Coach Kelly even abuses teachers, assistant coaches and the Outside the Lines reporter.

Like Rice at Rutgers, Kelly isn’t getting much production out of her players, they have a 3-81 record, but it’s not her fault that her players are always injured. Or is it?

Check out Saturday Night Live‘s spoof of Rice in the video below. Unless you’ve been hit in the back with a toaster. In that case it might hit too close to home.
