Sean Rodriguez Wears Bubble Gum Rally Cap in Tampa Bay Rays Dugout (Photo)

The Tampa Bay Rays had baseball’s worst on-base percentage entering Monday’s game against the Red Sox and didn’t do much against Ryan Dempster to help themselves in that category.

Dempster went seven innings against the Rays on Patriots’ Day, allowing just two hits and one run while walking two. In an apparent attempt to shake things up and spark some sort of offense, Rays infielder Sean Rodriguez turned to one of baseball’s time-honored traditions: the rally cap.

Rodriguez tossed an empty bubble gum tub on his head in the Rays dugout, but it resulted in a 1-2-3 inning for the Rays in the eighth inning. Still, check out a screenshot of the shortstop’s antics in the photo below.
