Tom Brady spent most of his youth in San Mateo, Calif., but he now recognizes a new city as his hometown: Boston.
Brady has spent all 14 of his NFL seasons as quarterback of the New England Patriots, and he lived in the city of Boston for much of that time. On Tuesday, with the city in grief over the tragic events at Monday’s Boston Marathon, Brady called Boston his hometown, expressing sadness and sending prayers to the people affected.
“My heart is saddened by the tragic events of yesterday in my hometown of Boston,” Brady said on his Facebook page. “My prayers are with all of the victims and their families.”
Many other athletes in Boston and around sports have sent their thoughts and prayers to Boston. Some of Brady’s teammates have even taken action to help the victims, including a major donation from defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and wide receiver Danny Amendola agreeing to donate money for every catch and drop he has in 2013.
