Fans of Turkish soccer club Galatasaray are understandably on edge ahead of their team’s biggest game in over a decade.

But their tension boiled over Tuesday morning, when a group of 30-40 of them attacked a local television station. They stormed the home of Beyazafter television because one of the on-air analysts predicted Galatasaray would lose its UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The prediction itself is no great leap, but that didn’t stop outraged Galtasaray fans from taking action. Some carried sticks and stones in the attack, but the group was repelled by security guards before they could make their way inside.

Galatasaray fans are noted for their passion and willingness to give hostile welcomes to visiting teams. Local pundits can add themselves to the ranks of those who might need to watch what they say and where they go when on duty in Istanbul.
