The NFL lost a little more of its diversity today.
Oakland Raiders CEO Amy Trask stepped down as head of the organization on Saturday after more than 25 years with the team, according to Pro Football Talk. She was the only female CEO in the league.
Trask informed Raiders owner Mark Davis of her decision today saying in an e-mail to the media, “Having honored a commitment that I made to effectuate a smooth transition and transfer of control, I no longer wish to remain with the organization.
“For over a quarter of a century, it was my honor and my privilege to work for the Raiders. I will forever appreciate the opportunity afforded me by Al Davis.”
According to a tweet from SI’s Jim Trotter, Mark Davis, son of the late Al Davis, had informed Rask that she would have a subordinate role under his new ownership. The elder Davis was the principal owner of the Raiders from 1972 until he died in 2011.
Trask interned in the Los Angeles Raiders legal department after enrolling at the USC Gould School of Law. She re-joined the Raiders in 1987, eventually working her way up to the CEO position in 1997.
