Chad JohnsonThe Broward County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office has put out a warrant for the arrest of former Patriots wide receiver Chad Johnson.

The warrant, first reported by TMZ.com Thursday morning and later confirmed by several news outlets, stems from Johnson’s arrest for domestic battery against his ex-wife last year.

The wideout, who had been known as “Ochocinco” until last July, was sentenced to one year probation, which he has allegedly now violated. A judge will reportedly determine whether Johnson did indeed violate his probation after he is taken into custody.

Johnson, who was named to six Pro Bowls as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, spent one year in New England before signing with Miami prior to the 2012 season. He had hoped to resurrect his career with the Dolphins after managing just 15 catches for 276 yards in Bill Belichick‘s complex offense, but he was arrested during camp in August and cut before playing a game.

Johnson’s Twitter account suggests that he is currently in California.
